I love the new year reset. I’ve been fortunate in my career to be able to take 2-3 weeks off around the holidays, which gives me time and space to shed some of the stress and mental treadmill-running that builds up over the year.
While the new year is a mental and intentions reset, I also love Fall as a seasonal reset. After spending all summer mostly outside in my garden, Fall tends to be the season when I deep clean my house, purge items, and prepare my physical spaces for the dark months we’ll spend indoors.
I love this. So many different people and forces always trying to set our priorities for us, some of them persuasive and some sneaky and all very powerful if we let them be. Thank you for reflecting on how we resist!
that fucking duolingo owl is aggressive. and also the security amoebas are so real hahaha. but also 100%. A while back I had a little crisis and wasn't sure if my life was getting decided by me or by external pressures. i made some big changes and did some soul searching to make sure whatever path I was on was because I chose it, not because it was easy or just "there." it was so helpful honestly and I'm better for it.
I liked this one. I’m pretty skeptical of the whole “setting an intention” thing … and yet I’m utterly committed to it. My intention is to not let the interests of others persuade me to be anything I don’t want to be. It’s to listen closely to and follow my “inner voice.”
I'm right there with you. Something about the word "intention" often feels a little too Instagram yoga influencer, but, yeah, I do think it helps connect to that inner voice--sometimes I call it "inner knowing."

Thanks, Liz! You have no idea how many times I almost wrote "the world" or "worldliness" before editing myself 😜

It's so hard to even know sometimes if you actually want the things you "want," right? Glad you found some time to reflect and sort through
